Paul Martin’s American Grill
El Segundo, CA
The challenge of inserting a new 8,000 square foot full service restaurant into an existing mid-80’s office building that did not have a restaurant previously is a complicated feat in itself. Polizzotto Development, working closely with Continental Development Corporation, developed a strategy to employ a hood exhaust system to the exterior with an environmental air scrubber to reduce airborne particulates from a wood fire grille, all without sacrificing office square footage above by using typical vertical airshafts for ventilation. The horizontal shaft and scrubber were incorporated into an adjacent architectural branding element that also serves as the restaurant’s signage. The contemporary, yet relaxed and rugged aesthetic of the interior design telegraphs to the exterior with steel and stone trellised patios.
